In the past decade, the quaint Tiong Bahru district has evolved into a hip neighbourhood with pops of cafes, eclectic shops while retaining its unique identity. Famous for its beautiful integration of the old and new – spy shophouses plus the beautiful wall murals which reminds us of Penang.

The most iconic building would surely be the Tiong Bahru Market and Food Centre for fresh ingredients, fresh cuts of flowers at low prices and their popular fried ice cream and Lor Mee! Don’t say #bojio!

Hunt and Take Creative Photos with these Tiong Bahru Wall Murals

Did you know that these famous masterpieces of the yesteryears have been adorning the Tiong Bahru estate since 2016? Each mural was conceptualised, sketched and hand-painted by local muralist, Yip Yew Chong to showcase memories from our grandparents’ era and is definitely a great opportunity to share such visual stories with our children. Find out how he was inspired to come up with various themes such as Birds Singing Corner, see if you can spot Wangsa Yefung on television and which murals didn’t make it on the walls.
